Map of Palu (Elazig) in Enver script.

The map (59 x 49cm) is assumed to have been made to be utilized by the Ottoman Army during the Battle of Sarikamish, however, had never been.
The map has yellowing as could be seen on the images.

Enverî or Enver script is the writing system that Enver Pasha obtained by revising the Arabic alphabet in order to facilitate the writing of Ottoman Turkish. The system remained in use for a long time with the contribution of the Ministry of War. According to this system, the final forms of the letters were used without connecting them and vowels were also shown. In 1917, Enver Pasha prepared a reading book called Elifbâ to teach this system. It is not known whether the script was officially discontinued or abandoned spontaneously. This writing system consists of a total of 45 letters, 35 consonants and 10 vowels.

The Battle of Sarikamish was an engagement between the Russian and the Ottoman Empires during World War I that took place from December 22, 1914, to January 17, 1915, as part of the Caucasus campaign.
The battle resulted in a Russian victory. The Ottomans employed a strategy that demanded highly-mobile troops who could arrive at specified objectives at precise times. The approach was based on both German and Napoleonic tactics. The Ottoman troops, ill-prepared for winter conditions, suffered major casualties in the Allahuekber Mountains. Around 25,000 Ottoman soldiers had frozen to death before the start of the battle.
